New Leaders’ Facilitated eLearning Module

Overview:

This project addressed a recurring leadership challenge identified by centre directors: how to transition effectively from peer to manager. In response, I developed a blended training solution — an eLearning course with live facilitation via Zoom.

The solution allowed participants to learn in real-time alongside a facilitator while engaging in interactive eLearning content.

Project Breakdown:

  • To develop an engaging, facilitated eLearning experience that helped new leaders strengthen their soft skills, understand the organisations leadership expectations, and foster stronger leadership confidence.

The training needed to be accessible, reflective, and supportive of a live virtual learning environment using the LMS, and its Zoom integration.

    • Articulate Rise – eLearning course development

    • Articulate Storyline – Interactive in-course activities, reflection blocks, DISC-style quiz

    • MS Word – Storyboard and content planning

    • MS PowerPoint – Initial visual design drafts and reference slides

    1. Assigned the project by the Head of HR and Head of Operations, with leadership content sourced from two internal SMEs and a leadership booklet.

    2. Proposed a hybrid delivery method: eLearning supported by live facilitation via Zoom. This approach was approved after stakeholder alignment.

    3. Collaborated with SMEs to develop the session outline and full storyboard, then created the eLearning course in Rise.

    4. Built custom Storyline activities for journaling and a self-awareness DISC quiz.

    5. Incorporated SME feedback to refine the training and improve facilitation ease.

    6. Supported system integration by ensuring Zoom and ELMO were fully compatible.

    7. Gained final sign-off from HR and Operations leadership after a complete review.

  • The training package was approved, and both the HR and Operations teams were happy with the final product. Unfortunately, I left the company before the course was launched, so I was not present to observe its impact.

  • This project highlighted the importance of defining delivery expectations early. The ambiguity around whether this was a standalone or facilitated session caused initial confusion.

By initiating a focused discussion with both project sponsors, I was able to clarify the purpose and move forward confidently. This experience reinforced how essential it is to ask the right questions upfront and to gain alignment before development begins.
